Alejandro R. Smith was born December 25, 1969 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He is the oldest and only son of Beverly S. Henderson and Jason W. Henderson. Pastor Smith is married to the Nikisha Dotson. Pastor and Lady Smith have two sons; Nicholas K. Smith and Caleb M.Smith. Al Smith is a 1987 graduate of Fair Park High and is certified as a Histotechnologist, Southern University (2003). Reverend Smith has a Bachelor of Theology (2000) from Shreveport Bible College.
Reverend Alejandro Smith is the former pastor of the Republican Baptist Church (1998-2009) of Mooringsport, Louisiana. Under his leadership, the church made great strides for the advancement of the Kingdom of God. While serving the people of God at Republican several ministries were birthed: Newsletter Ministry, Praise Team, Women Ministry, Intercessory Prayer Ministry and purchased two new Church Vans for the Transportation Ministry.The congregation was brought up to State Compliance. Pastor Smith launched a structural renovation effort entitled Operation Facelift.He began an aggressive financial savings agenda toward a new edifice . The membership experienced growth on all levels financially, spiritually, and numerically.A powerful and productive Healing Ministry saturated the membership and the community. Pastor Smith along with local community pastors organized a Ministerial Alliance which chaired a yearly revival and quarterly Christian Enrichment Seminars, they also reorganized The Annual Thanksgiving Program.
In the spring of 2009, Reverend Alejandro R. Smith became pastor of the Light Hill Baptist Church where he currently serves. He comes with a vision of inclusiveness and a motto “We Are Better Together.” Since his arrival more than 100+ members have united with the church. Pastor Smith has introduced his five year Field Development Phase which is now in the infant stages of planning. Several new ministries are being enhanced and introduced under his leadership.
Pastor Smith has served throughout the 13th District Baptist Association under the leadership of Dr. Murphy L. Hunt, as former Vice Moderator and currently as Vice Director of Christian Education. He also served the 13th District #2 Independent Baptist Association as Financial Secretary from 1997-2008, under the leadership of Moderators Richard Hardy and Cleonis Odom, Sr.
