Prayer ministry

The Ministry of Intercessory Prayer was implemented at Light Hill Baptist Church during the Fall of 2011, led by Elect Lady Nikisha D. Smith.  As God has commanded that His House ‘shall be called a house of prayer’, we understand with certainty that it was and is the intent of God to remain in constant communion and communication with His People and for us to remain in constant communion and communication with Him.  Hence, the Intercessory Prayer Ministry seeks to fulfill that mandate by praying without ceasing for the presence, purpose, anointing, and directives of God to reign supreme and above all in His House.  We further endeavor to extend the Hand of God through evangelical efforts, outreach, and other mechanisms.  We stand on  2 Chronicles 7:14.  We hold close Philippians 4:6, Isaiah 55:6, Matthew 21:22, and James 5:13.  The Intercessory Ministry sponsors the following programs:  Heal the Land Altar Call and Family and Friends Month.  We further endeavor to assist the Pastor for forthcoming fasting and prayer efforts in addendum to the National Day of Prayer.

Sunday at 8:45 A.M.

Wednesday at 6:30 P.M.

We meet 30 minutes prior to each worship experience so that the atmosphere may be prayerfully covered.  We welcome all to make prayer the focus of our Christian walk; as Christ intended.

The Board members include:

Service ministry

Ministry Leader – Lady Connie Watson
Greeters
This is the first official representative of the church that most people see when they arrive on campus.  The greeters should welcome each person, member or visitor, with a warm and friendly smile; they open doors for all persons entering the sanctuary; they direct the flow of traffic when entering the sanctuary; they inform visitors where all facilities are located on campus if need; make sure each visitor completes a visitor’s card and receive any church information before entering the sanctuary.
Ushers

This ministry is the second official representative of the church that most people see when they arrive and as such plays an important role in making the people feel welcome to the service. The role of the usher in the church is a volunteer position. Humility is the key in this position. Ushers are required to be punctual and time conscious as they are required to be at the church earlier than the rest of the congregation. The concept of an Usher is not new at all. In the Old Testament, we hear of Ushers, however, they were called Doorkeepers or gatekeepers that played very similar roles (Psalm 84:10). All Ushers are asked to be at their designed post 15 minutes before worship begins. Meeting are held every first Saturday of the month beginning at 3:00 p.m.

Christian education

Ministry Leader – Minister Ron Taylor

The Light Hill Baptist Church Sunday school’s mission statement strives to reach and win the lost, teach and disciple them through the word of God, for the glory of God.  Our vision is to change people to Christ-likeness, to become disciples and to attain leader status.

Our purpose is to render religious education to people of all age groups and serve as a platform for people to come together for a common cause.  This provides an opportunity to study the Bible.  The Sunday school teaching instills in the mind of the students, faith in God and principles which Christ adhered to.  The teaching also instills in the mind of the young students love and care toward others in society.
